http://www.biochar-international.org/Sustainable biochar is a powerfully simple tool to fight global warming.
This 2,000 year-old practice converts agricultural waste into a soil
enhancer that can hold carbon, boost food security, and discourage
deforestation. Sustainable biochar is one of the few technologies that
is relatively inexpensive, widely applicable, and quickly scalable.

Biochar Overview (med bilder)
http://www.biochar.info/index.cfm?view=52.2&lan=enBiochar is defined simply as charcoal that is used for agricultural
purposes. It it created using a pyrolysis process, heating biomass in a
low oxygen environment. Once the pyrolysis reaction has begun, it is
self-sustaining, requiring no outside energy input. Byproducts of the
process include syngas (H2 + CO), minor quantities of methane (CH4),
tars, organic acids and excess heat.
